Medical missions (also referred to as caravans) serve to provide rural and isolated African communities with life-saving medical care

Medical missions (also referred to as caravans) serve to provide rural and isolated African communities with life-saving medical care. The Canada-Africa Community Health Alliance has been sending volunteers on 2-3 week long medical missions since 2002. A medical mission typically consists of a team of approximately 15-25 volunteers with the support of local partner staff and volunteers. The teams provide free services to under-serviced rural communities in Sub-Saharan Africa. The CACHA volunteers typically consist of pharmacists, surgeons, nurses, physicians and logisticians (non-medical volunteers). Generally, Prevention Through Empowerment caravans run twice yearly in September and January.
